Our Learning Challenge curriculum, embedded throughout the school, is built around the principle of pupils taking a greater involvement in their own learning. This results in a curriculum where learning is meaningful and where pupils achieve high standards. Learning challenges are carefully chosen and are enquiry based to encourage natural curiosity.
In addition to this curriculum, certain programmes of study are followed within certain key stages. Detals of these are below:
Reading - Children in Reception to Year 2 have daily Read, Write Inc sessions. This equips children with all the phonic tools needed to read. Children are expected to come off the prgramme by the time they reach the end of Year 2 where they join in daily Guided Reading sessions which focus more on the understanding of the text.
Chidren across the school access Switched On ICT which, through carefully planned 'We are..." units of work, cover all aspects of the new IT curriculum for computing.
PSHE is taught through the Jigsaw scheme of work.
