Autumn 1

This half term the children settled brilliantly into Year 3.

We stepped back in time to over 5000 years ago where we learnt what life was like during the Stone Age and the changes that happened through to the Iron Age.

We found out about Stonehenge and made our own model versions.

We have really enjoyed reading the Iron Man by Ted Hughes, which is about a Robot who terrifies everyone, but has a happy ending! We performed a friendly robot song; a poem by Ted Hughes called ‘The Coming of the Iron Man and our own version of the Sound Collector to our Mums and Dads in our class assembly. Listen to the poem here. http://images.scholastic.co.uk/assets/a/63/8d/lt-iron-man-int-7179.swf

We started the topic designing and making our own Robot that could help around the home. Would you like a Cleanbot to help with your daily chores?

Autumn 2

What makes the world angry?

This half term we are finding out about the world and what natural disasters impact our lives. We will find out about Volcanoes, Earthquakes and Hurricanes.

We will be reading ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ by Phillip Pullman which is about a young girl’s perilous journey to Mount Merapi.
